Berwyn

Located along the main line in suburban Philadelphia, Berwyn exclusively boasts an area of 1.9 square miles. While Berwyn may be tiny, it’s big on culture. The Footlighters Theater has been providing quality entertainment for nearly 80 years making it the oldest community theater on the Main Line. From the works of Oscar Wilde to Neil Simon, the Footlighters Theater is the epitome of community involvement with enlightened leadership and talent to spare. Achieving excellence in the spirit of camaraderie with supportive residents makes this a standout in Berwyn.

Entertainment is just one of the many amenities that Berwyn offers. Take a leisurely stroll through the Jenkins Arboretum and Gardens, a beautiful tribute to the flora and fauna of eastern Pennsylvania at its finest. Throughout the seasons, this landscape is home to a diverse collection of rhododendrons and azaleas and the perfect sanctuary for a variety of wildlife. This 46-acre facility is not only for avid gardeners and wildlife enthusiasts, children will love the 1.2 miles of attractive woodland paths. The Jenkins Arboretum and Gardens also provides tours, classes, workshops, internships and fellowships.

During the celebration of its centennial in 1877, one Welsh settler proposed the name Berwyn after the Berwyn Hills overlooking the Valley of the Dee River in Meionetshire Wales. To this day, Berwyn maintains a small town, picturesque feel with its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the Berwyn train station and the Berwyn Fire Company annual Turkey raffle. Its most notable characteristic is its residents. Experience firsthand the warmth and generosity of genuine people truly committed to community and family.
